Dermal fillers are non-invasive, injectable treatments designed to restore youthful volume and smoothness to the skin. As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen and elasticity, leading to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hollow areas.
Our skilled practitioners use premium FDA-approved dermal fillers to target specific areas, such as the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds, enhancing facial contours and achieving a refreshed, natural-looking result.

Whether you seek to plump up your lips, soften facial creases, or rejuvenate your appearance, our dermal filler treatments are tailored to meet your unique aesthetic goals, all within a comfortable and safe environment.

YOUR CONSULTATION

At The Medispa, prior to any treatment a face to face consultation is held with one of our highly trained aesthetic clinicians. After an in-depth facial analysis and discussing your concerns, your clinician will be able to best advise you as to the suitability of the treatment and what results can be achieved. They will explain how the procedure works, what to expect, any possible side effects and the after-care process. A tailor-made plan will then be devised specifically for you. Dermal fillers are not just about big lips and hamster cheeks. People worry about pillow face this is fake and unnatural. Now, as we better understand physiology and the anatomy of the ageing face we can use fillers to compensate. Giving the appearance of slowing down the ageing process.

Sometimes we have features due to anatomical deficiencies or genetic tendencies which can give us certain unwanted appearances:

  • Marionette/downturned mouth corners – look sad
  • Nasolabial – look angry
  • Tear tough – look tired

These are not just age-related but can affect how you are perceived and affect your confidence. In expert hands we can improve this. Complications from injecting filler can also occur. It is important to be in the hands of doctors and nurses that are expertly trained, highly experienced and knowledgeable on how to manage any unwanted side-effects.

Safety and after-care are important to us. As part of your treatment plan, there is also a review appointment where your clinician can assess the results of treatment. Urgent access is always available if required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers typically last between 6 to 18 months depending on the individual.
At The Medispa we use a variety and whole range of dermal fillers. With years of experience we have a great understanding of which dermal fillers perform best in different areas of the face. We offer fillers from Juvederm, Beletero, Teosyal ranges and many more.
When using any dermal fillers the area is anaesthetised in full for at least 20 to 30 minutes prior to treatment using a topical anaesthetic. As a result there is little to no pain during the procedure.
Dermal fillers are safe in the right hands and are amongst the safest of all injectable aesthetic treatments. Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the body making them also naturally dispelled from the body. Serious complications can occur but are rare and much less likely to occur in experienced hands. We have the knowledge and expertise to manage it if they do occur.
The use of dermal fillers is a completely reversible procedure. So, if for any reason you are not happy with the results, hyaluronidase enzyme injections can be used to break down and dissolve the fillers.
After the treatment it is advised not to apply any makeup or touch the area for at least 6 hours. Other than that, you are free to go about your day as normal.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

DISSOLVING FILLERS

Dissolving dermal fillers has become popular for both cosmetic and medical reasons as the trend shifts toward natural, subtle enhancements. Overuse of fillers can lead to an unnatural, puffy look, which can be corrected using Hyaluronidase enzyme to dissolve the excess hyaluronic acid and restore the face’s natural shape. The filler can be dissolved partially or completely, depending on the desired result.

Celebrities like Kylie Jenner, who once embraced a fuller look, now prefer a more natural appearance, further driving the demand for filler dissolving treatments. However, when non-medical practitioners overfill or cause complications like lumps or blocked blood vessels, skillful dissolving is crucial.

At The Medispa, we offer professional filler dissolving services to address these concerns, ensuring you’re in safe, experienced hands.

WHAT ARE DISSOLVING FILLERS?

If you’re unhappy with the results of your dermal fillers or feel too much has been administered, they may need to be dissolved. This is done by injecting Hyaluronidase, an enzyme that naturally occurs in the body, to break down the filler. A higher concentration of this enzyme can accelerate the breakdown of hyaluronic acid, which dermal fillers are made of. As the filler dissolves, it is naturally filtered out by the body.

Hyaluronidase is a prescription-only treatment and must be administered by a qualified medical professional. A patch test is required beforehand to check for allergies. While typically used for complications, we can also use it to correct poor aesthetic results following an in-depth consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe?
Hyaluronidase enzyme is only available by prescription. Only a medically qualified practitioner is able to obtain this. Hyaluronidase enzyme is found in small concentrations naturally within the body. It is important to only see a highly trained and experienced practitioner to ensure the correct concentration is applied. There is a chance of having an allergic reaction to the hyaluronidase enzyme. It is therefore crucial to always have a test patch done prior to treatment.
Numbing cream is used prior to any treatment to minimise any discomfort you may experience.
This is a very quick treatment and only takes a few minutes. The dermal fillers are dissolved very quickly and may cause some swelling around the area treated. The swelling can take between 24 to 72 hours to resolve completely. There is also a small chance of bruising at the sight of injection.
Yes, you can have dermal fillers again after dissolving them. Once the Hyaluronidase has broken down the filler and the area has healed, it’s possible to re-administer dermal fillers if you wish. However, it’s important to wait for the treated area to fully recover and ensure that the skin and tissue are in good condition before proceeding with new injections. A consultation with a qualified practitioner is recommended to discuss your goals and any necessary adjustments based on the previous results.
